    Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positons:

     

    1.   DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRIALISATION AND MODERNISATION 

    Job Title

    Director of Industrialization and Modernization

     

    Qualifications

    ·         PhD/Doctorate in engineering, industrialization systems and/or applied sciences

    ·         A minimum of ten years proven record of accomplishment while working in industrial R&D, innovation and invention environments

    ·         Well published in refereed journals in STEM -related fields

     

    Reporting to:

    The Chief Executive Officer

     

    Person Specification

    The STEM Initiative expert leadership to unpack and implement the concept of STEM as a key driver of Zimbabwe’s industrialization and modernization. The Director will be expected to drive the STEM Initiative to the next level where it can contribute towards the industrialization and modernization agenda. He/she will be an expert in cutting-edge technologies as well as special STEM capabilities. He/she should be able to link industry, institutions of higher learning, the ministry and the Fund and to ensure the deployment of appropriate and adequate resources to stimulate STEM-induced industrialization and modernization of Zimbabwe’s economy towards a knowledge economy. In that capacity, the Director and his/her team will ensure that industry is responding to government's thrust of industrialization by promoting the embracing of latest technologies and industrial processes that lead to Industry 4.0 as well as absorbing graduates from institutions of higher learning through creation of jobs of the future. He/she will further assist institutions of higher learning to develop STEM programmes and to stemitise all their programmes. Invariably, he/she will also be the catalyst STEM resource that will conduct front-end research on stemitisation, jobs of the future, STEM programmes and cutting-edge technologies as well as sharing the information with ZIMDEF’s stakeholders, especially institutions of higher learning and industry. A solid background in advanced research, innovation and invention systems demonstrated by registered patents, will be a distinct advantage. 

     

    Key Skills and Knowledge 

    The Director of Industrialization and Modernization will, among other things, have the following skills and competencies:

    ·         Advanced knowledge of STEM education, its pivotal role in driving industrialization and modernization towards a knowledge economy;

    ·         Capability to define and unpack STEM as a catalyst for Industry 4.0 leveraged by jobs of the future and cutting-edge technologies;

    ·         Conducting, publishing and disseminating leading-edge research outputs in support of institutions of higher learning and industry in their quest for producing 21st century graduates and to offer jobs of the future, respectively; and

    ·         Taking a leading role in sharing resources that advance upper-end skills development by institutions of higher learning and their utilization by industry in the following key drivers of Industry 4.0:-

    o   Disruptive technologies

    o   Simulations and Modelling

    o   Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)

    o   Big Data and Data Analytics

    o   Digitalization

    o   Additive manufacturing systems including 3D and 4D printing

    o   Augmented Realities (AR) and Virtual Realities (VR)

    o   Virtual Value Chains

    o   Automation

    o   Artificial Intelligence (AI)

    o   Embedded Intelligent Systems (EIS)

    o   Advanced sciences such as nanotechnology, bioinformatics, genomics, materials manufacturing etc. etc.

    o   High Performance Computing (HPC)

    ·         Should be able to use multivariate analytical and statistical modelling software applications such as SIMCA, SPSS, among others.

     

    2. RESEARCH SCIENTIST

     

    Location:

    Harare Head Office

     

    Reporting to:

    The Director of Industrialization and Modernization

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    ·         Conduct scientific researches on STEM programmes as directed by the Director;

    ·         Produce quality scientific research papers for publication as sanctioned by the Director;

    ·         Assist the Director to promote the embracing of latest technologies and industrial processes that lead to Industry 4.0

    ·         Assist the Director in the mobilization of funds for STEM programmes.

     

    Qualifications:

    ·         Holder of a first-class Master’s Degree in any of the following areas: Engineering, Industrialization, Technology or Manufacturing;

    ·         Minimum 5 years working experience;

    ·         A qualification in computer technology will be an added advantage; and

    ·         Clean class four driver’s license.

     

    Key Skills

    ·         Ability to use multivariate analytical software systems including SIMCA, SPSS, etc.

    ·         Knowledge of the application of HPC

     

     

    3. CORPORATE LEGAL SECRETARY

    Location:

    Harare Head Office

     

    Reporting to:

    The Chief Executive Officer

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    ·         Handling all legal issues across the departments;

    ·         Monitoring and evaluating the processing of all legal cases;

    ·         Critically analyzing, investigating and processing any issues of a legal nature;

    ·         Preparing records of proceedings on appeals made to the various courts;

    ·         Drafting responding affidavits to court applications;

    ·         Providing secretarial services in all critical meetings involving the CEO such as the Managerial meetings, Executive Committee meeting or the National Manpower Advisory Council (NAMACO); and

    ·         Perform any delegated duties by the CEO.

     

    Qualifications:

    ·         Bachelor of Laws Degree;

    ·         A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage;

    ·         A Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a corporate institution; and  

    ·         A clean class four Driver’s license.

     

     

    4. RESEARCH OFFICER

     

    Location:

    Harare Head Office

     

    Reporting to:

    The Research Scientist

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    ·         Assists the Research Scientist to conduct STEM related research;

    ·         Conduct all preliminary preparations for the scientific researches; and

    ·         Assist in the compilation of all research papers as directed by the Research Scientist.

     

    Qualifications:

    ·         Holder of a Science Degree in any of the following areas: Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemistry, Physics or Biology;

    ·         A Master’s Degree in any of the above areas would be an added advantage

    ·         Minimum 3 years working experience in research related work; and

    ·         Clean class four driver’s license.

     

    Key Skills

    ·         Ability to use multivariate analytical software systems including SIMCA, SPSS, etc.

     

     

     

    5. MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER

     

    Location:

    Harare Head Office

     

    Reporting to:

    The Chief Executive Office

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    ·         A Degree in Marketing, A Higher National Diploma in Public Relations and Journalism;

    ·         Possession of a Master’s Degree in Marketing would be a distinct advantage; and

    ·         A minimum working experience of 5 years with proof of management of high profile brands.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:  

    ·         To oversee the implementation of the marketing strategy with specific objectives and targets as agreed with the Chief Executive Officer;

    ·         To develop promotional opportunities and ideas from conception through to delivery;

    ·         Take responsibility for originating and planning Marketing and Public Relations campaigns in line with the organization’s marketing strategies;

    ·         Conduct scientific research on the value of all workshops conducted by the Fund through the Marketing and P.R department;

    ·         Supervise all departmental staff; and

    ·         Perform any other delegated duties by the CEO.

     

     

     

    6. EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

     

    Location:

    Harare Head Office

     

    Reporting to:

    The Director of Industrialization and Modernization

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    ·         Managing the Director’s office including appointments;

    ·         Arranging meetings and Managing the Directors diary;

    ·         Word processing of documents;

    ·         Coordinating the itinerary and work schedule of the Director;

    ·         Making travelling arrangements for the Director; and

    ·         Carry out any other duties as delegated by the Director.

     

    Qualifications:

    ·         Holder of a Degree in English and Communication/Business Administration or equivalent;

    ·         Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies;

    ·         Good computer skills-Auto CAD, Microsoft Office package;

    ·         A good typing speed;

    ·         A clean class four Driver’s license; and

    ·         Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related field.
